History

Expomédica was founded in 1987. It’s a family SME company based on the long experience of its founding partner – Mr. Mário Sogalho - who since 1955 has been linked to the pharmaceutical industry and mainly to the medical devices.

At the beginning, just working a small number of products for Plastic Surgery and Orthopedics, we have been extending our activity to other specialties over the years. As a result of the market recognition, we have not only attracted new customers, but also new and respected international partners, who trusted in our company to distribute their products in Portugal. Today we distribute over 40 companies and we commercialize a range of more than 30,000 products.

In 1997, when completing 10 years of activity, the family second generation join the company. This contributed to a greater growth momentum and increased motivation.

In 2017, as we celebrate 30 years of activity, the balance is very positive. However, we are aware that we can’t stop and that there is still much to be done to lead in an increasingly open and competitive market, where threats are becoming bigger and stronger. But Expomédica "is not just passing by, we have come to stay!"
